Travel Safety & Disclaimer

Travel is personal. Safety is too.

Roametry provides destination research, travel recommendations, planning information, and editorial content for informational purposes. Our recommendations are intended to help travelers identify destinations that may fit their preferences; they are not guarantees of safety, suitability, availability, or any particular travel experience.

Travel conditions can change quickly. Weather, natural disasters, political conditions, public-health concerns, transportation disruptions, road and trail closures, local regulations, entry requirements, and other circumstances may change after Roametry content is researched or published.

Check current information before you travel

Travelers are responsible for reviewing current conditions and requirements before booking and again before departure. For international travel, Roametry recommends checking the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories and destination-specific information. The State Department’s International Travel Checklist also covers entry requirements, passport validity, local laws, embassy information, health requirements, and other preparation topics.

For U.S. citizens traveling internationally, consider enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP provides alerts and updates from the relevant U.S. embassy or consulate and can help officials contact travelers or their emergency contacts during an emergency.

For current health information, vaccination guidance, and destination-specific health notices, consult the CDC Travelers’ Health resources.

Outdoor activities and changing conditions

Many destinations featured by Roametry include activities such as hiking, swimming, snorkeling, boating, driving in remote areas, winter recreation, or other activities that carry inherent risks.

Travelers should evaluate their own abilities and circumstances, follow posted warnings and local guidance, use properly licensed guides or operators when appropriate, and avoid participating in activities when conditions exceed their experience or comfort level.

For U.S. destinations, the National Weather Service provides official forecasts and alerts, while the National Park Service publishes current danger, caution, closure, and informational alerts for national parks.

Health, insurance and emergencies

Roametry does not provide medical advice. Travelers should consider their individual health needs and speak with an appropriate healthcare professional when necessary.

Travelers should also review their health and travel-insurance coverage before departure. The U.S. Department of State notes that many medical providers abroad do not accept U.S. health insurance and specifically recommends considering medical evacuation coverage for adventure travel.

In an emergency, follow instructions from local authorities and contact the appropriate local emergency services. U.S. citizens abroad can also seek assistance from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

Third-party services

Roametry may link to airlines, hotels, tour operators, activity providers, reservation platforms, transportation companies, or other third parties. These businesses operate independently of Roametry. Travelers are responsible for reviewing each provider’s terms, safety practices, cancellation policies, insurance requirements, and current operating status before purchasing or participating.

Your responsibility

Ultimately, each traveler is responsible for deciding whether a destination, activity, accommodation, transportation method, or travel plan is appropriate for them. Roametry recommendations should be considered one source of information among current official guidance, professional advice where appropriate, and the traveler’s own judgment.
